help g1 doesnt recognize my sd card anymore

Don't know what happened, everything was fine until I went to look at my 'pictures' folder and, poof- sd card not recognized the G1. Now, Astro still see's everything and in settings it still shows how much memory is left on the card. But, I cannot use the camera, it doesn't find my music etc. I've tried mounting unmounting, turning off and on the phone... all to no avail. Can anyone help me? Thanks....

Did you unhook the USB cable when accessing the pictures and music? Pictures and music features are not available when you hook your G1 to computer via the USB cable. It happened to me when I pluged in my new 8GB microSD card, after I unhooked the cable, everything was fine.

Take the card in and out. Restart the phone.
Keep doing that until it recognizes it.
Try that. Let us know if that works.

tried another SD card and it worked so i am suspecting my 16gb sd card is a gonner, beware of the 16gb cards

this isnt using the computer this is just the SD Card in the G1

Did a factory reset and now I lost everything! mybackup doesn't even work- what the heck can I do?

I had a similar problem. While accessing the SD card from Windows I messed up the 'boot sector' of the card. (I was trying to partition it for a FAT32 / EXT2 setup.) Even after a Windows format of the card it wouldn't recognize it, the camera wouldn't write. It would, however, show me the free space left and act as if the card was there.

I ended up having to use the Linux utility 'dd' to overwrite the first block of the card with 0x00 then use fdisk and format utilities to get everything back up and running.

Gulp, that sounds like fun. The crummiest part is that I'm at work, away from home, so I won't be able to put the card on the computer until wed.

Strange part was that I wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary when this happened. Astro can see my files but cannot write to them or delete them.

This has actually happened to me twice now with the Transcend 1GB that was packaged with the phone.

The first time happened two weeks ago a few days after I formated my card to FAT32 for moving caches. The next thing I knew, TunesWiki wasn't recognizing any songs as it would pop up the "beginners page" telling me I have 0 songs, my bookmarks were gone and my whole phone was crashing, such as the Market and such. I had to format the card and actually do a wipe of my phone (which is the most annoying thing ever) to get it back to working stable again (which is the most tedious thing ever).

Now just a couple of days ago, although my phone itself isn't acting up, the SD card is not being recognized again, even though the phone knows how much space is left on it and whatnot. My ringtones have gone back to defaults, TukeWiki now boots up normally, but once I try to find a song, it cannot be read, and my Steel browser settings and bookmarks are gone... again.

Anyone know what's going on here? Is it just the card itself or is there something more serious lying beneath that I really need to address...
