Just want to confirm that it is there and does work - w00t w00t!
Thought I'd let you know...
I just installed Google Maps 3.1 from the market (updated today), and when I hit Menu an option comes up to "Join Latitude". I did, and it seems to be working...
I don't have any contacts added to latitude to confirm, but I can see me on there, and I have access to all the Latitude stuff in the app.

Already had Latitude through the "Latitude Enabler" app in the market, but it's nice to see it finally get an official UK release.
Just installed this update, what else is new? Voice search?
Does this give you two maps programs installed? Or does it actually update the system version?
Yeah - this works for non-rooted UK phones, and is official.
New features are (copied from Market):
* Search by voice.
* Transit & walking directions.
* Business details and reviews.
* Latitude Updates.
* Latitude location updating fix.
Also includes:
* My Location.
* Business listings.
* Driving directions.
* Traffic.
* Street View.
After I installed this application, the Maps application vanished, and Google Maps appeared. I had a shortcut to Maps on my desktop, which remained with the same name (Maps). It opens Google Maps. So it's obviously overwriting the Maps app with Google Maps.

Yeah, in actual fact, I've known since creating my first Android App many months ago that the name of the app in the Market or Apps folder can be different from the name of the .apk file.
I noticed also that it IS UK specific. The build says gmm-android-tmobile-gb (note the gb at the end there for Great Britain). So it looks like it's officially on the the UK now, not just an accident that they'll later remove like they did last time.
Found a bug though... I can't change my photo in Latitude -> [my name] -> Change your photo. It allows me to select and then crop a picture, but after Saving it I still have the default blue silhouette image.
Kind of sucks that it doesn't show "update available" in my downloads
....
cannot find streetview or voice search anywhere (UK)
not worth downloading
To get street view hold your finger down on a location and it will bring up options. if street view is available for that location you will be able to select that option, otherwise its faded out. Haven't seen voice search though.
