Haha... Were they expecting people to not hack it and look into the folders and want to pirate it. Seriously, it was hard for me, but for such a new device it seems like it was way to easy to hack.

You can easily pirate apps with a dev phone, or any rooted phone. This is most likely only temporary until they can find a way to protect them, bu i think its a stupid move.

Inconceivable! If the directory is called "private", no one will ever, ever poke around in there!
To make matters worse, you just know that one person didn't come up with this idea all on their own -- it had to be ratified by higher-ups or possibly the Android dev team as a whole, depending on how Google is structured. I imagine there was one lone developer who said "hang on a minute, you want us to do what now?"
Bad idea, google.........
