I read on Engadget awhile back that Microsoft is going to port the Zune software to be installed directly into WinMo devices.

I really do not like carrying around more stuff than I have to...especially high value items like these that I may not feel comfortable leaving it lay around when im at work or any social event (Not just because of theft...but if you have something that looks cool and expensive, the more people want to pick it up and possibly drop it or break it)

Our G1 already has music apps... it already has the capability of a "Ipod" like device... but what I think is lacking is an "Itunes" like software to support it. If Google decided to do this "Gpod" I think it would be important to have a computer program that intergrates with the phone like "itunes".

My personal suggestions of ways for google to do it:

-A Google p2p download program... with some music video etc are free from users and some come directly from the companies for a price etc etc...

-A cloud "Google Music App" that integrates all your personal music to the Google Server... so at any computer with internet access you can update your Android with music as well as share your personal play list with your friends or "groups" freely...

-To compete with Zune I believe Google needs to create a wifi-transfer app between phones and computers... so that we can transfer files or integrate with the google app with out the USB connection, just like how a wireless printer does. (lol they may already gave one but I have yet to use it... my friends are die hard Iponies.. )

I think they already came up with a name for the device... and we all call it "Android".

I was just searching to see if there was a computer based program that I could use with my android phone. I recently lost my ipod and it seems like a perfect time to break from itunes. I have been using my phone for music and it has works well enough that I don’t feel a need to get a separate device.
There are some key missing points that may push me back to a separate mp3 player, though, and maybe even itunes. I’d prefer to switch to something that is easier to sync with my android phone in some key ways.

    • I just wish I could sync my phone music with my larger music collection on my computer.
    • I wish I could get playlists off my phone so that I could burn them on CD or track them after the songs are taken off of my phone.
    • I wish I could get playlists on my phone from my larger music selection.

I'm guessing from this discussion that that capability isn't there for the android music player.
Let me know if you know differently.

I don't know... I thought it sounded really cool, so I installed it. Then I realized that it had lyrics to maybe 5% of my music. No, it is not that out of mainstream. Actually, I listen to a lot of classic rock, many many big tracks, and I can not believe they are not in there.
I hope it will get better. I'll reinstall in a while and see if a change has come.

I dunno, I found the stock music app on my G1 to be good enough. I'm not really a hardcore music listener, and I dislike having to sync files around. Currently, my music player is my PSP. Easy copy-pasting of files, and it has visualizations too. Quite nice.

I might move to my G1 once I get bluetooth headphones though.

but since the Android platform is open, there's nothing stopping anyone from making a better, custom music player, yes?
