XDA just reported that official Dev Dream/ADP1 v1.1 update images were leaked today. In addition to manually retrieving updates, the firmware also allows bypassing Google sign-in

And yes, one could flash their G1 with this, if they don't mind losing Tmo functionality.

I defer the questions about cross-flashing to the experts here and at XDA. Far as I know, the majority of cross-flash problem come in with non-native features (IM being the biggest complaint) and custom themes that soft-brick the phone cuz they're not written for ADP1 firmware.
