G1 stuck on boot screen

I was told that the CM build don't necessarily get along with apps2sd. If you have the Cyan Recovery I was told to do the "Fix filesystems" option after applying the update. I tried that twice, the first time (while still in recovery) it said that it failed, the second time it said that it worked. After that everything was working great!

Changing the subject slightly, if i manage to get the card partitioned using the apps2sd app, is there anything else i need to do before flashing to the cyan mod?

Do not use the apps2sd app with cyans build ! It will mess up your phone . His build does apps2sd automatically , all you need is an ext2 partition on your sd . You can partition your sd through cyans recovery .
