The debian one was really easy, this just has alot of configurations you have to input manually. I might be willing to give this a shot maybe over the weekend.

Is there anything useful you can do with having other OSs on the G1?

i was in process of doing this but then it hit me.. just like when I had debian on my sd.. ok yea I get this installed, but what's the point seriously. i mean if u know how to use ubuntu and are gonna use it to ur full potential its worth it, but if ur gonna install it just just have it there's no point. so im not doing it anymore. its cool though that android is breaking barriers

My question about running it ON TOP of Android revolves around the issue of speed. On top of that, utilizing the vnc-viewer... I don't know... sounds like it would be painfully slow. I don't know how much of a "show off" that would make for. Who knows, maybe it is more impressive than I imagine, but in my mind it seems like it could actually make people think, "Wow, Android and Ubuntu are really slow. Why would I want to use them?"
