i think you will just be fine, i hope, 3g wont be in my area till 2060 probably
Been reading some of the reviews for the G1 floating around on the net, (there is a really good one on Tmonews would post but firewall at work) and they all seem to suggest that the G1 is performing pretty well on just an EDGE network. I hope this holds true because I dont think my area (Columbia, SC) is going to see 3g for awhile. I hope to god I can at least take advantage of 85% or more of the services on and EDGE network, the rest my Wifi at home cant help me out with

btw, Can Anyone Send like a link of a video of the G1 on like edge not on 3g?
No 3g in the Denver area.... I'm on EDGE until it rolls out here.
anything that works on 3G should also work on edge, just slower. The only restrictions as far as connection type that I can think of is the music store, where I think you have to be on wifi. Even that was just a choice by Google or t-mobile I'm pretty sure because they connection type shouldn't affect anything other than speed.
You may not be able to play online multiplayer games over edge if/when they are made, but developers may also restrict that to wifi in order to maintain the needed connection speed
I imagine that Edge should at the very least be sufficient for doing some streaming of audio which would be my minimum requirement. Because even though my city (Philly) is a 3G area, I don't see many other areas immediately outside of it that'll do 3G where I commute out to.
