G1 not automatically updating software

I suspect that if you just wait it will update to 1.6. A friend of mine (also in the UK) bought a brand new G1 just a month ago and it must have been old stock as it came with 1.0. It took two weeks, but he randomly got the update to 1.5 over the air. When Donut came out a week later he got that too.

hi. i need help upgrading my g1 to 1.6. i tried both us and uk manual update but i keep getting a verification error and operation was aborted. my g1 has a crc28 build. can anyone give me info on what manual file update to use? thanks.
