G1 IM.yahoo messenger

I have blackberry and when I use my yahoo client for IM it is not using my text(i mean it does not count as a text and it uses DATA)but I Tmobile is telling me it is NOT the same with G1 and it uses text not DATA. can any one confirm ? sorry wrong place move it if you have to.

Yes.....Yahoo chat on the G1 counts as messages and not data.
Counts the same as text messages and multimedia messages.

And it's not a Google requirement either. The WLM / AIM / YM IM services are T-Mobile's, just like MyFavs

So I have the CLIQ XT, and the messenger on that seems to be using the data plan.

Is there someway to get an IM app that uses text messages? I have unlimited text but no data plan!
