G1 boots/powers on to silent mode?

I usually have my phone set for normal mode (ring, vibrate, sounds on). If I power off my phone manually, or the phone powers off due to no battery power left, when it powers on it's in silent mode. Does this happen to anyone else? Is there a way to change the default? Right now I have to keep manually turning normal mode back on.

I have this exact same problem, it's a big problem now because my phone likes to restart randomly and I'm missing important phone calls.

If there are any ideas as to what would cause this, please help. I'm auditing all my apps and deleting anything that can change ringer status because failing to receive phone calls has just become a serious issue.
