It's an even older joke than 05 or 06. If I'm not mistaken, I saw it back in 2000-1 when I was looking for a broadband ISP but was sick of RCN. It could have also been in 04 when I was sick of Comquacks.

Oh really. I'm not saying it's technically impossible, but I'm doubtful. Take a photo of the router hooked up to your sewer line and post it. That ad is BS either way.

yeah it totally makes sense that you could trasmit high speed data through pipes made of clay or iron or pvc or lead, or that any city has fiber optics zig-zagging all over the place. Having seen fiber being buried, I can tell you for sure it does not go through crap. Way too expensive for that.
