Default factory reset on a rooted phone

I have some problems on my GPS so I called tech support and we tried everything to get it to work. Now he says I have to do a factory reset. After he told me that, I told him I will call him back later because I want to do few things on my phone before I do that. He says after I do that, I will qualify for warrenty exchange if I still have problems.

I have JF 1.41 multitouch with RC33 with radio update. That's all I did so far on my phone. I didn't have time to do anything else with it yet.

If I do a factory reset, will I end up loosing my rooted G1? Will I have to root my phone again?

however if it is rooted it most likely wont be covered under warranty. Since it's not official software that is supported on the G1.

    That's my next question, thanks!

If I have to send it in for warrenty exchange, how do I go back to the stock RC33?

i already sent back a g1 for warranty exchange that was previously rooted...
its simple to get it back to orig tmobile standards...
remove the hardspl while the phone is still rooted - flash the orig bootloader found on xda,
then flash the rc29 nbh file back, and your done...
    do a factory reset
and voila.. back to caveman phone...

what's your GPS problem? i'm asking because my GPS signal seemed to get noticeably weaker after the rc33/radio update, but then somewhat miraculously improved a few days later. i couldn't say why, but a couple of reboots might've helped...
