Is there any possibility of anybody offering a back for the G1 that has more power capability? This phone is ultra bad on battery longevity. Short of turning it on and off, why has'nt anyone thought of stringing 3 or 4 batteries together in parallel to super enhance the usage time for the phone. I would gladly accept the 5/16 th or so of additional thickness for the increase in usefullness. In my opinion, HTC has not been very attentive to battery charge life issues in thier product lines. I upgraded from a T-Mobile Dash which was not very good in this area either, but outperforms the G1... The Android OS is very nice, but HTC failed to incorporate many tweaks found in other phones into the G1. I think they were too "Google centric" and therefore did not include much adjustment into the format, such as auto-answer tweaks, etc. Other than the internet interface, this phone is rather thin on tweaks, in my opinion. I miss my Dash, which I gave to my daughter![]()

There are numerous threads on the extended batteries available.
There is a 1400mAh battery available that is more of an "enhanced" battery.
Then there are 2100mAh and 2400mAh versions that are larger, offering roughly twice the capacity.
I have a 2100mAh battery with the extended back case. I used it for about 4 weeks and it definitely is an improvement. But I picked up my wife's G1 one afternoon and was just astounded at how much better it felt with the normal battery. So I went back to the OEM battery.
I'll take the larger one with me when I travel however....should be plenty to keep me entertained on a 4.5hour flight plus enough time for phone calls and GPS routing on the 2+ hour drive to my final destination.
The extra weight and larger size are OK, but the original feels much better. To each his own.....do a search and there are pics and recommendations/reviews on each of the batteries I mention above.
it's cheaper to get a couple of oem 1150 batteries and swap them over.
