Why can't you save attachments in emails (besides photos...)
And why can't you attach things (like mp3s) to emails....?

Is there a way around this?

Another lame characteristic of this phone... so:

    1) Yes, you can do about anything if you go to your Gmail account ON LINE.

    2) With the app, "Documents To Go" (and perhaps others) you can receive and save Word Docs with your Gmail ON THE PHONE.

    3) You can ONLY get pics and, I thought, sound files on your regular (POP3) email on the phone. Nothing else.

    4) However, there is a work around that is a pain. If you must receive an attachment on your POP3 (for example) on the phone, have whomever is sending it change the extension to ".jpg". Then the stupid phone will think it's getting a picture file and will allow you to save it. I've done this with word files and they are not wrecked. Of course... then you have to transfer them to a computer (NOT by Bluetooth, because G1 is also too stupid to do this), then rename the extension so it will load in the proper program.

    5) Almost forgot, there is an app called K9 for IMAP & POP3 that seems to allow the download of ANY document. It may work on your phone, it does not work on mine. I am hoping, once Cupcake gets installed, that either the attachment issue will be resolved OR K9 will suddenly start working. Bluetooth?

I think the restriction on saving e-mail attachments is that it prevents people from sending viruses around.

As for sending attachments over e-mail, there actually is a program now that does that. It's called Gravel Mail. You have to search in Android Market for it.

It's a paid app (I think about $3 US), but it works pretty well....

    Worth a look.
