Default double tap to zoom in?

just wondering, is G1 capable of double tap to zoom in in browser? Since blackberry storm can't or not having multi-touch implemented, however storm has double tab to zoom in feature, so I think G1 is able to do double tap to zoom in too

    any thoughts?

No, it doesn't support the multi touch features like the Iphone/Ipod Touch.

I just watched a video from a developer at xda-developers. With root access, he found a section of code that commented out from google. He was able to compile that code section. Below is the movie that demo G1 is able to have multi touch

That would be a good feature. Sometimes the zoom for me is slow and I have to tap it twice.

Well, maybe the device is capable, but google obviously didnt implement it in their OS for whatever reason.

The G1 is capable of multi touch:

I think its because of time constrain, probably the reason why google didnt integrate it.

Oh and the 0.9 beta SDK had double tap zoom but they remove it for some reason in 1.0

maybe Tmobile rushed Google to release G1 ASAP so Google didn't have enough time to work out the bugs for multi touch and double tap features....anyways, I'm expecting major improvement and updates from the next firmware update

Is double tapping a multi-touch thing? Don't think that should matter, right?

    A) Multi-Touch would not be needed
    B) For those having issues with zooming in, press anywhere on the site and then slide down a tiny bit. THAT is what opens the magnifying glass.
