Default Device Profiles - reg, quiet, loud, no vibrate, etc...

Is there anyway to create "Device Profiles" on the G1? My past Nokia phones have had profiles. I like to have 3 or 4, one normal profile, one really loud profile (not just louder, but more obnoxious ringtones) for when I'm on call, a quiet profile that still vibrates, and a silent profile that doesn't even vibrate (most folks can hear the vibration if it's really quiet in the room).

Another nice feature that my last phone had to go with the profiles, was the ability to time the profile. For Instance, if I was going to be in a meeting for an hour, I could put it on quiet and then after an hour it would go back to normal. Or at night when I went to bed I could do the same (unless I am on call and then I put it on super loud).

This would be a nice App if there's not a way to do it already.

If there was an actual profiles app and a way to disable the volume rocker I would be golden...

if there was one thing that made me hate this phone (as small of an issue as it may be) it would be the ill placed volume switch. I end up turning my phone either full or nothing whenever im in the browser/email/messaging

hmm, yeah, that may work for some stuff. It would be nice if it had manual change options to go with the "conditions".

I'll play around with it a bit.

    Thanks

"Ring Toggle" in the app store. Has certain profiles, but no rocker disable.

I agree that it can be annoying but.. I think I've trained my fingers against it. I like this MUCH more than how they had the touch sensitive slider on the HTC Dash because that thing would go up and down when you put the phone to your ear.

tried locale. would have been good, but didn't work with 'rings extended' so I couldn't set my on-call ringer. i then checked the various settings togglers, but they all just seem to do silent, vib, ring only and ring/vib.

Do you guys know if Locale is intelligent enough to look in my Calendar and 'see' if I'm in a meeting, and if so, to automatically set the ring profile to vibrate only?
Screw Twitter, catch me on Plurk!

Yeah...but you could deactivate the volume strip on the dash...which is what I did day 1

I have seriously considered just a dab of super glue to solve my volume control issues...but I am holding out for (hopefully) someone to make an app to disable it. I am sure there is a dev. out there somewhere in the world who is just as annoyed as I am with it...especially since 85% of Google employees just received their phones

i didn't see that functionality. i didn't check if you can use a wildcard for meetings. they have a feedback/feature request site, http://feedback.androidlocale.com/
