Yeah I want to know to
I did a quick search but could not find anything on this.
Does anyone know if it will be possible to add a custom tone from an .mp3 for the message notifications?
Cause to be honest I'm upgrading from a Samsung D-900, and I can't change the notification tone, the only ones available are.... eh hem "non-manly".

You can set custom notification sounds/songs for calendar events, IM msgs and individual contacts... is that what you mean?
when you say individual contacts do you mean a ringtone for them when they call, or a short sound clip when the send you an mms/sms message?
What I am trying to get at is if specifically, Android has left us the option of changing the sms/mms notification sounds to a sound file we upload to the micro sd or phone memory.
i would assume you can set a different specific ringtone for sms alerts, as well as emails. hopefully a different one for each email address. if not blackberry has a leg up on them. you can set a different tone for just about everything.
on both my blackberry and my previous nokia i was able to use .mp3's as ringtones and notifications.
Okay....Let me look around my phone and find out.....![]()
Hes talking about text message ringtones. To set a custom phone ringtone all you do is go to your music player find the ringtone and hit set as ringtone. But I don't see a option for SMS.
that would be kool if yu could
I hope you can because the defaults suck![]()
