Cupcake users: Any of you experiencing a lot of restarts?

So, clearly this isn't right. I haven't done anything different with my phone, but sometimes I'll reach in my pocket and find my phone very hot, and pull it out, and it's off, not responding to any button presses. Sometimes it will just blink out in the middle of something, like an email notification will only play half the file before I feel it buzz me at the G1 screen. Sometimes it's when I am switching apps or touch the screen. This morning, I took my phone off the charger and the screen was ON, but black, and the phone wouldn't respond. It's pretty much getting to be unacceptable. Just wondering if anyone else is having similar problems?

I have got the exact same kind of problems. The phone goes sometimes very hot and it randomly restarts, sometimes by just pulling it out of the pocket or touching without pressing the red button. Sometimes it happens during the night for no apparent reasons. The feeling is like, the more things the phone is doing, the more likely it is to crash. It is extremely annoying. Sometimes it manages to crash and then it crashes again while it reboots. This definitely seems like some kind of memory corruption problem.

Can I get a replacement? I bought the phone used and I don't have a receipt of the payment. How am I going to enforce the warranty?

I've been having this a lot lately; it didn't seem to happen with any noticable regularity until after cupcake. Now, the phone will be sitting on a desk or table, not being moved at all, and will be working fine; then I can come back later and it will be completely shut off ... pressing the power button does nothing, and when I take it out and put it back in, the battery still has plenty of charge ... this is what makes me worry it is more than battery problems - and besides, if the battery simply came unseated, it should have no problem turning back on after wiggling back in place; not to mention that I can't explain how it came unseated when it was sitting motionless on a table. It is very frustrating - the past two weeks it has happened almost once a day, at least. I'm about to start deleting programs one by one and see if that helps, but I don't know why it would ...

I figured I would post my results in case other people have this problem. As I said earlier, I was having frequent power-offs and I couldn't figure out why. I downloaded an app to read the logs .. though I think the logs clear on a reboot, so I couldn't figure out what happened right before it powered off. I may be wrong about that though - I couldn't figure out what order the log was output in.

Three things stood out to me as the possible culprit:

1. First, the SD card suddenly became unreadable, and seems to be dead (I can't even get it to show up in a PC); however, I think it is just as likely that the phone caused the SD card to die as it is that the card was causing the phone to power off.

2. A few programs were showing lots of errors in the logs (though I didn't know what most of them meant). Bartender, BeyondPod, and BetterCut - probably a few more, but I can't recall. I uninstalled them all, and only reinstalled BetterCut.

3. There were problems of some sort, according to the log, trying to automatically determine the time zone. I went into settings and set it manually.

Since then, I've had no sudden power-offs on the phone. Of all three culprits, I think 3 might be the most likely (though I'm just guessing). Anyway, thought I would post in case it proves helpful to anyone else experiencing their phone randomly shutting off.
