I just received an OTA official update to the ADP1's software. I was really hoping this problem would be solved. But no! Whatever bug fixes they just pushed me did not address this issue.

Does anyone know a place to report problems such as this to the developers of android?

What's worse is that I don't want to buy any other adapters out of fear that they don't work as well.

YES! You can report the problem here by going to the bottom of the page, and "voting" for the bug to be fixed and/or commenting. Google bases everything on data analysis and user feedback, so if we don't give any feedback, they probably won't fix it right away.

I also got the update today and was disappointed to see that it didn't fix the problem.

A forum member on XDA Devs has posted an app that toggles the fix for this issue. I have not tried it yet, and there do appear to be some bugs, but it does seem to fix the problem. File can be found here:

You can install this widget on the phone and when you plug in the adapter you hit the widget and the sound will switch to the headset jack. It works great and you can keep your htc audio adapter. The link is here: http://senduit.com/6e57f9

    I also have this problem.

The link on senduit for the widget has now expired. But I was able to find it at http://code.google.com/p/toggleheadset/

If you are having problems finding the widget on your home screen, press and hold your finger on a blank spot on your home screen. The option to add widgets will appear.

TO THE GOOGLE FORUM MONITORS: YOU NEED TO FIX THESE KINDS OF PROBLEMS ASAP. Something like this impairs the core functionality of the phone. If you don't, we'll be stuck with a lot of smirking IPhone fans.

I also have two HTC multi-adapters that stopped working after the 1.5 cupcake upgrade. I have another adpter that is "L" shaped that just goes from usb to usb + 3.5 mini-pin out that continues to work. I hope the hiccup with the HTC ones gets fixed.
