    Default Corporate Gmail versus Exchange

    Hello,

I have my Droid sycing my email from an exchange server and it works well, but was considering having google host my corporate email and sycing with that. My question is if there is a performance difference between using exchange push versus the corporate gmail sync. Is there a lag in receiving my email from the gmail system unlike push where it is almost immedate? I also heard that using the corportate gmail sync drains the battery faster as it always has to connect to the server and check for new email versus the push technology where the email is pushed to my Droid..

I've not tested the Calendar, nor any of the corporate GMail stuff, but normal GMail push is instantaneous. Won't that be the same kind of thing?

I use Exchange for work too, but I don't have it set up on my phone. Instead, I have a rule in Outlook to forward emails to my GMail account. When an email comes in, my phone will notify me around 5 seconds before Outlook does.

When emails are pushed to the phone, the phone doesn't initiate this connection. If there is a setting as to how often the phone pings the server then it means the app doesn't support email push.

Are you actually talking about corporate GMail (or the GMail app) here? Or are you talking about the Mail app?

Also the company you work for how good is their exchange server? Us 1.6 users don't have a nice exchange process so I ended up using IMAP to get my work exchange email. One thing I do do though is not use outlook for my calendars and such. F*ck that. Too many people bitch and complain about it never working with anything because what it comes down to is its Shi*ty. Just use google calender. Life will be easier when you accept the fact google now owns you.
