Default control frequency of google synching

I've searched for 'synchronize frequency' and 'synchronize profile' and a few others but I can't see any answers, so apologies if this has already been dealt with...

I want to know how to control when google synchronizes gmail calendar and contacts - it seems ridiculous that it's the worst offender for battery life and yet it still tells me when I get an email in the middle of the night!

Anyone know of a setting or an app that can control this?

wish i did, that'd be nice. once/day calendar sync would be plenty. you probably know how to turn syncing off? you could do this at night, but some sort of timer app that enabled/disabled syncing would be swell.

Go into the Gmail app on your G1.
Click Menu >>> Settings >>> Labels

From here you can set the number of days to sync as well as which labels to sync.

aren't those settings for how many days of mail to sync, not how often to sync?

Well, obviously, but that's a bit unsophisticated, isn't it...? Plus, I have a memory like a goldfish, so I'd still be woken up at 4am for an email notice or go for days without receiving any email because I forgot to turn it off/on...

I was hoping someone would tell me that 'Application X will do this for you'.

Ideally, we need an app with multiple profiles and a simple scheduler where you specify work day on/off settings and weekend settings. For the delux version you could specify the daily frequency for those people who only want their GMail/Calendar/Contacts synched daily/weekly etc.

Yeah, that's actually a feature I miss from my SE M600i - scheduling the times when push email was active. I guess that and being able to have multiple push email accounts.

There's an app on the market (can't remember name) that will turn the alerts off at night, not Locale.
