Confusion about waitlisting

I've been reading that some people have gotten on mysterious lists to get a G1 at their local tmo stores,

and yet I've called my nearest ones and they affirm that there will be NO LIST and that they will be selling them on a strictly first come first serve basis.


i have no problem camping out for my white one (all ima say is those fRIGGIN stores better have the phone or ill order it online) but im going to HURT SOMEBODY if when i get there, the manager actually has a list and just refused to put me on one,



so whats the difinitive word? it seems like some sneaky locations will be doing either lists or first come first serve. FCFS seems like a better idea

I think it is different depending on the store. I have heard most taking the list just take it to judge demand & will be following FCFS. But some pp have reported that some stores are reserving it for people on the list. Just stuff I read @ tmonews. Just clarify with the store(s) YOU plan to go to on what their policy is.

Yeah, that's what I tried doing with my store but they rudely told me to wait because they were going to call back people and they'd let me know when they know something. They wouldn't tell me whether it was just an informative call back or a call back to make sure I still want one so they can reserve one for me.
The reason I'm so confused is because the girl who had me sign up on the list said they were gonna call me back to "ask whether or not I was still going to get one" implying that they were going to hold one for me. But now I don't know...

I would go to the store and request to talk to a manager to see what the store is going to do.

There's no reason they wouldn't do first come, first served unless you know someone working there and they're holding one for you.

The store near me let me put my name and number on a list. It was so that they could call me when the phones were in. It was not a pre-order list, i didn't pay any money to put my name on it.

well, i got on a waiting list for another one nearby, and she said i was 3rd, and that i would 'definitely be getting one' but she said that the white wouldn't be available until JANUARY!


so i guess brown will have to do since im not about to wait TWO MONTHS

Well i just called another store, was told they'd have them in stock next wednesday, i asked if there was a list, and i was told there is a list but it was more of a list to guage demand and so he could call me back when he gets more info or when they receive the stock. I did ask if white would be available and i was told he wasn't 100% sure but he could put me down for one in case it is available.
