good question...

I was wondering if I can use the iphone headphones with the $5.95 3.5mm headphone adapter sold in the AC store? It does not specify if it works with a mic. Has anyone used this product with headphones that have a built in mic? I do not want to buy the adapter with a built in mic cause the mic will end up being in my pocket and not near my mouth. Thanks.

from my understanding of things, you will be able to listen to music, but the mic wont work. I am trying to figure this same situation out.
you can use them, but the way they are wired, your music on the g1 will be out of phase. if you listen to most current rock music you wont hear most of the vocal track. it makes it sound terrible.
and since you cant hear phone calls clearly, using the mic is useless anyway.
the htc adapter has a mic on it though, so any good 3.5mm headphones would be better than the iphone headset.
Thanks everyone for your help. I think I'm going to end up buying this one. I just hope it's not to bulky in my pocket. It says in the discription it supports 3.5 and 2.5mm headphones with an inline mic. The headphones that came with the phone sounded great but I couldn't stand how bulky the inline mic was. I would wear the headphones wth the wire underneath my shirt and the mic would get caught on my coller and rip the ear buds from my ear when I turn my head. I figured the iphone headphones would be better since the mic is much smaller and more flush with the wire.
i have that same one..i literally just left the apple store. i went and tried to use the headphones with the mic to see if i can hear the phone call and use the mic on them by plugging the headphones into the adapter and it did not work.![]()
