    Default Blank/Broken Screen

Yesterday when I closed the phone from its keypad-mode, the screen went blank and it wouldn't show anything. I can't even turn the thing off as when turning it off, it asks you to hit the shutdown option on the screen.

    Troubleshooting Steps I Took:
Replaced SIM card, tried hard reset (hold onto power key and home key then pressint Alt+W), replaced battery... basically everything I can at my end.

I called T-Mobile, and they said I have to replace the phone using "Buyer's Remorse" reason (14 day period; after which I have to go through warranty service, which they'll send a REFURBISHED phone instead of a new one), and they have to charge my account $180 to sell me another phone, and I have to send the phone back first (after they receive the phone, the $180 will be credited back). To make things worse, they're out of stock and will be in stock on the 11th of November.

What can/should I do? Obviously return the phone, but I don't like the idea of not having any cell-phone what-so-ever until after the 11th (hey at least I can RECEIVE calls).

I guess this is what I get for being an early adopter...

*UPDATE* Everytime I slide the screen from its original position to its other position (i.e. closed->open, or open->closed), the screen blanks out. If I keep it opened/closed, its fine. ???

Have you tried setting back to "Factory Defaults"?

I had my "HOME" key stop working, and this brought it back... It's really no big deal, you just have to log in to Google and your "Contacts" come right back... you will have to reload ALL of your apps, but that might be a blessing, you probably have some already that you wouldn't put back on anyway...

Anything on your SD card remains intact through the process, which takes about 5 seconds!

    Tried that.

The tech support transferred me to customer support, and they told me they'll send me a black G1 (comes out the brown G1s were out of stock) today, and it should arrive by Friday, and I can then use the same box to send back my broken G1. Also for my troubles, they got rid of the $35 activation fee. That was nice of them.

They shipped it to the wrong address, and it was supposed to be delivered yesturday (Friday). The address change with UPS takes 1 business day, so they said I won't get the phone until Tuesday; Wednesday at the latest.

I called up T-Mobile to see if maybe my billing address is wrong (since companies usually send things to the billing address to avoid fraud), but my billing address IS my real address.

-_- Time to hold on to this defective POS for almost a week now...

It is a loose cable...probably from the sliding open-close, close-open.
Maybe you are sliding too hard? that's my guess.
