Any BlackBerry-like autotext feature, to convert "idk" into "I don't know" and so on?

Is there any way to edit the auto-correct dictionary? My goal is to end up with something similar to BlackBerry's AutoText feature.

I understand Android has built-in typo correction and allows you to add words to its dictionary for suggestion, but is there a way to add in, for example, "idk" and have it come out as "I don't know"? That would be a huge time-saver if it was possible!

There was an app for either my Blackberry Pearl or one of my Palms, which did that.

It WAS a great time saver! Allowed you to create any number of shortcuts, and then backed out the shortcut and replaced it with the extended text... d/w would become dinner with, idk would become I don't know, etc. etc.

I'd love to see an app for the Android which would do this, and it would be a BIG seller! Price it right, say, $3, and I guarantee it would move up to one of the most popular apps in the Android Market!
