Default Android Wii Style 3D Controller

I've stumbled on this on androidguys.com

Very snazzy, using the G1 as a 3D controller.

sick. i see many capabilities. this is why android is so nice it has all these people constantly devoloping day and night bringing us all these sweet things
    Device: T-Mobile G1
Build/Rom: twisteds SHADOW HERO v4.2 (no loading screens, fast as hell, soo smoooth)
    Recovery: Cyan 1.4

ive tried every linux swap from 32mb to 96mb. 40mb is the fastest and wont slow down on u over time. TRY IT!

"project semi abandoned since the digital compass of the HTC dev phone is acting up when the phone is upside down"

thats from the website... that doesnt make any sense to me.

it seems to be working greatt, maybe a few more improvements then it cud really work as a wii controller.. not sure why developer just gave up on it..

Well, since Android 1.5 is available, perhaps more testing would be warranted...

If the real Wii remote just uses Bluetooth, can the Android phone be used as a real Wii remote?

In theory that should work. It won't be nearly as accurate as a wiimote though.
    T-Mobile G1 (Black)
    Cyanogen 3.6.8.1
    Apps to SD
    Tethered

Why would it be less accurate than the Wiimote? Wiimote uses ADXL330 and HTC Dream apparently uses AK8976A.

Of course it can't be used as a pointer (unless you hook it up to the camera too ), but you could still get a bunch of people playing mario kart together without buying extra controllers.
