Default Android OS is the future

Hey this is a very nice system and a very nice phone, i love it and have no complaints and i also expected bugs, and the reason why is because its a BRAND NEW OS.

you guys keep comparing this phone to windows mobile devices, i mean how long has windows mobile devices been out ???? when they launched the first windows mobile device it did not come with vpn, remote desktop, touch screen, using the phone as a modem, all that happened over time people, so stop your complaining and take it else were

this is what i really dont understand, GOOGLE and TMOBILE not once said this was a phone made for businesses, plus its ANDROID OS so no android is not going to pay microsoft to make them an app to sync to a MIRCOSOFT EXCHANGE SERVER, this phone was MADE TO SYNC with GOOGLES SERVER DUH, THATS WHY IT SAYS GOOGLE ON THE BACK AND NOT WINDOWS MOBILE. If you want to sync with an exchange server go get you a windows mobile device or make the application yourself. I am tired of hearing that crap.

This OS will do a take over, you cant expect things to work when they first come out, i mean come on now, the first plane didnt take across the world the first time they flew it, the first boat didnt circle the globe when they first put it in the water, THINGS HAPPEN OVER TIME AND IF YOU DONT WANT TO WAIT THEN THIS PHONE AINT FOR YOU AND YOU SHOULD GO GET A WINDOWS MOBILE DEVICE SO STOP ALL THE COMPLAINING, GEEZZZZ

I am so tired of these threads and the complaining threads! I am tired of hearing people say the G1 is the best phone in the world. When in reality, right now the G1 is a half done beta phone. Yes i know in 2-3 months time there will be a bunch of updates and added features. But at the same time i think T Mobile and Google jumped the gun on this one! Believe me i use my G1 daily and plan to for the next year at least (i wont be posting how you guys lost another G1'er) and look forward to the large updates that adds features!

you guys keep comparing this phone to windows mobile devices, i mean how long has windows mobile devices been out ????
Of course we compare it to WinMo, thats where we just came from! How many times have you heard your GF or someone else's GF bitch about being compared to the Ex? Its human nature to compare what we had to what we have! Get used to it, caus ei knwo this forum is not the only place you hear it!

this is what i really dont understand, GOOGLE and TMOBILE not once said this was a phone made for businesses, plus its ANDROID OS so no android is not going to pay microsoft to make them an app to sync to a MIRCOSOFT EXCHANGE SERVER, this phone was MADE TO SYNC with GOOGLES SERVER DUH, THATS WHY IT SAYS GOOGLE ON THE BACK AND NOT WINDOWS MOBILE.
This is the dumbest thing i have ever heard. Exchange is the most widely used email server pretty much everywhere! WinMo is not the only phone OS that can sync with Exchange, even though this is not a business grade phone, there are a lot of geeks that use this phone that connect to an exchange server quite a bit and not just for work!

    make the application yourself.
I am so tired of hearing this spew out of everyones mouth! If everyone could program, all of our computers, phones, laptops, cars and im sure some washing machines would be caked up with the worst Malware/Spyware/Viriis/crappy apps. You think that the Market has to many crappy buggy apps now. Just imagine what kind of hell it would be if everyone could program!

Blah!!! I don't know what it is, maybe my coffee hasn't kicked in yet. But i am tired of all these bull**** threads about how awesome the G1 is or How the G1 makes me cry! I am not going to ask...I mean i wont tell anyone to leave, i think i am just going to take off for awhile! These past weeks on these forums, reminds me of how badly we screwed up the human race when we don't let natural selection do its job!

I mean i understand, but people have kept it up far too long. Thats like crying for KIA to put a navigation system in their car because Lexus has it, THOSE ARE TWO DIFFERENT COMPANIES stop comparing them and goto the company that supports your needs.

people should know google is trying to take a different approach then microsoft. Google wants their phone to connect to their email services, not some exchange server because microsoft makes exchange servers, so someone that wants exchange server to work perfect needs to stick to a windows mobile device or goto a blackberry or treo because thats who specializes in connecting to exchange servers.

This phone like you said is a beta, google didnt program anything for it and they said that from the jump, they said they will put out the OS and if you can create then go ahead.

The simple way to solve this is, if you dont like the phone , then take it back and stop crying like a baby, i am sick of it. Most of you just need to stick to something simple like a razor or something lol.

Wish it would work this way, but its in our nature to compare what we had to what we have. It's going to take more then a forum to fix this.

people should know google is trying to take a different approach then microsoft. Google wants their phone to connect to their email services, not some exchange server because microsoft makes exchange servers, so someone that wants exchange server to work perfect needs to stick to a windows mobile device or goto a blackberry or treo because thats who specializes in connecting to exchange servers.
That doesn't make sense. Google knows gmail accounts are not the only emails people want to get on their phone(i would love to see the ratio of new gmail accounts created to existing gmail accounts for the G1). I think the average person has 3 different email accounts? I could be wrong i read that awhile ago. If Google's strategy was to phase out other email accounts, they know they will fail. They could of at least had POP/SMTP running perfectly before release.

This phone like you said is a beta, google didnt program anything for it and they said that from the jump, they said they will put out the OS and if you can create then go ahead.
I understand Google's logic here, and i applaud them for getting the underlying OS working as well as it does, the memory management can not be beat! not to many people have problems with the OS itself, but Google did know what device/hardware was going to be, the first to use Android and should of pushed the launch to a later date if they couldn't get a lot of the basics running properly. Google, TMobile and the OHA wanted this phone to get a huge buzz and convert a bunch of BB, Sidekick, WinMo and IPhone users. It got the hype and the buzz, but because of the lack of features on the phone, it turned off a lot of people who went back to their other devices or are holding out for something else. I feel Google dropped the ball on this, I know a lot of people were using this phone way before the release, how did somethings like not being able to save attachments from an MMS or Not having any features at all for the camera? How does TMobile allow HTC to put such a crappy vibrator in the phone? I think all of this was over looked, so that TMobile/Google could beat the BB Storm, TouchHD, Xperia and others to market! Maybe so it could hit before christmas? I don't know but it sounds like a corporate decision to me!

The simple way to solve this is, if you dont like the phone , then take it back and stop crying like a baby, i am sick of it. Most of you just need to stick to something simple like a razor or something lol.
Q1 2009 there is going to be a huge update for the Android OS, I am willing to bet a lot of the things everyone is complaining about will be fixed, tweaked and replaced. If this is the case it just shows that they jumped the gun and wanted it on the shelf before it was ready.

I have been researching Android for well over a yeah and a half and bought the G1 fully aware that it was still in beta and needed lots of work. I can not say i am 100% happy with the product they released, but i am not so unhappy with it that i will sell it or give up on it. But i do understand why people would want to get rid of it and i feel Google could have done better with the release candidate. I think that is why all the complaining gets to me so much, I am not sure who made the decision to release the G1 so early or why, but that decision could have bruised the Android name for quite sometime. The less users Android has, hurts all of us. With out a large following, we will never get any of the better known companies making apps or games for Android.

Something i just thought about while typing this out, If Google did what everyone is saying. Which is worried about the underlying system and is letting 3rd parties make the apps better for the rest of the phone, does that mean they will give access to replace the camera app that came with the phone or will we have that taking up our memory when we download another app that is much improved?

Personally i think that most if not all the probs ppl have is with the hardware (HTC's prob) and not the Android OS. To be very honest i have to agree with most ppl here. The G1 hardware wise is beta, I mean think about it. the internal memory down to the chin getting in the way of comfy typing all the way to the buggy cam.

Once someone like Motorola Palm, or Samsung make a android phone i think then you will get a better overall product. I say this only because I think Tmo is known more for it's low end phones so HTC really just gave em something that wouldn't affect them on there P&L sheets. Once someone puts android on one of their high end phones then you will see some good products coming.

Sidenote: Why hasn't anyone ported android to the iphone. i think this would be a perfect piece of hardware for it.

Um...no, All of the hardware is not beta and has been used in other phones! The design(shape of the phone) is new. but the chin isn't what most people are talking about. The buggy camera? its Android(software) not playing nicely with it. The internal memory is the same as some of the other phones, identical in size as a lot of them and double the amount from a year or 2 ago. HTC did make a cheaper device, but that was more then likely because of TMobile and Google. They had a certain price in mind to compete with the $199 IPhone 3G so they cut some corners(internal memory).

The software is what is still in beta, that's why the updates are called RC# (Release Candidate #). That is the last stage of beta.

Not sure if your purposly misunderstanding or what but my point is exactly what your saying. I'm trying to say that in my opinion the software is damn good. The Device it's self isn't necessarly what ppl would like as far a quality goes. The Cam like I said isn't that great, never said it was an issue with the software. So yes like I said this is a phone that not alot of finances went into.
