Default Android Browser Issues When Browsing Some AJAX/Javascript Heavy Sites :(

Based on a couple of sites I've been on... and having some experience as a web developer, I'm noticing that the Android web browser while being very nifty for many sites, it isn't handling the job as well as I would hope for 5-10% of the content that's out there.

My main pickle is one of my favorite personal web aggregators here @ http://hhev.nerdelphia.com . I toyed around with an iPhone/iTouch enough to know that when clicking on one of the red links (which would create a Thickbox... or a popupover that isn't really a separate window) to view source articles... it's shoved all the way at the bottom & to the right.

Just seems odd that out of IE, Opera, FF and Safari (+ mobile version) that this web browser for Android is the odd duck out for some ajax heavy sites. The PC AJAX version of Orb.com in login area is another example with overlay menus not always being aligned properly. Just hope this is something that Google addresses themselves since their native site functionalities being AJAX heavy + displaying knowledge of browser working via Chrome would suggest that this'll be addressed soon enough.... i hopes

I agree wholeheartedly. A device based on Java should be a whiz at java-based websites, IMHO. I "accidentally" switched my orb screen on the G1 to the AJAX interface and I had to wipe everything out of the browser (except bookmarks) just to get my webgui on my G1 back to a useable layout/format. AJAX was practically useless. Talk about the feeling like you've just wandered into the wrong neighborhood and you're never going to get back out!

Err... you're pretty on point... except it's a common misconception that Javascript and Java itself is related when the two really aren't (a mistake I myself made back when I used to interview for a few jobs).

But yea... AJAX is coming off as very buggy when it comes to overlays and just plain sloppy. It almost feels like I'm surfing around on Netscape Navigator 3.0 at times
