    Angry AIM, MSN...YAHOO...considered SMS's??? What da hell?


    I was reading one of the reviews on the g1 and this guy was saying that the only true instant messaging application as out of the box....is Google talk...the other ones , AIM, MSN, and YAHOO are gonna be considered sms's what kinda bs is this TMOBILE??? Arent those supposed to me INSTANT MESSAGING SERVICES???? I cannot believe this....it is a suuuper deal breaker for me

    It has to do with the protocols they use.. gTalk will be over the data plan..

    not a deal breaker for me I text more than i'm on an IM service ANYWAY

    Its all really quick. Just the sending message method is a bit different. You wouldn't know if they didn't tell you. Just a quick 1 or 2 second sendoff.

    aim and yahoo have always been counted as sms messages iv'e had a few phones that included them its because of how it sends the messages. my friend didn't know that and racked up a 300 dollar phone bill because he was on aim all the time and only got like 300 text messages with his plan they add up fast. Just get the unlimited dats/text plan and your fine.

    haha, i think this is hilarious. In the previous phones I've owned, they've all used SMS... it's just as "instant"... takes like 2 seconds between messages.

    get an ultd text plan....problem solved...OR send all of who you IM an invite to gtalk....too easy....

    Well I hope that they fix this through an update or a third party application because , i was super excited to the switch from my curve to this phone , and on my curve instant messaging...MEANS INSTANT MESSAGING....and NOT SMS. If there's no application from a 3rd party developer solving this issue I'm sure lots of people are gonna be changing their minds about G1. sorry I'm a little upset about this , i use this instant messaging a lot for work.
