its ok app developers dnt give a dam bout apple.. so ha.. wat is apple gonna do sue every body that uses multi touch ha ha
my guess is that its apple's fault. like the other thread about how apple basically has the lock down with the multi-touch which is why the g1 doesn't have it. again. this is just my guess/opinion.

yes, press menu, settings, scroll to bottom, click flip orientation. I'm hoping theyll design an accelerometer app that will automatically do this (love the phone but that shoulda been a given, esp since it works fully for videos.
So far, the only app which uses the accelorameter for screen orientation is the Video program.
If you install that program, load a movie on your card and play the movie, you'll see that changing your G1 from Portrait to horizontal the video switches automatically. Turn it back to portrait (vertical) and the movie switches automatically.
No reason every program couldn't utilize that feature... for some reason, ONLY the programers of Video player, as far as I know right now, have chosen to implement that feature.
Picsay also uses the accelorameter.
I am not sure if using the accelorameter should be a global os feature or just an app feature. In other words should the accelorameter work on every app and screen on the phone or on just certain apps. Some apps might not work well with the accelorameter like games. But for sure the web browser should have this feature along with the home screen and most of the apps. I wonder how hard it would be for developers to go back and add this feature?

Although it doesn't do it automatically, you can press the menu button, then "flip orientation" and it manually flips the screen while on the web browser
well the camera somewhat uses this feature
I notice that whenever you take a picture whether it's landscape or portrait they are already automatically rotated in the right direction. The accelerometer knows which direction the phone is while the picture is taken.
There is so much unused potential for this feature...
It's called a G1
you can just when ur in the browser hit the menu key and scoll to flip orientation, and it will put it in landscape mode without opening the keyboard
------------
I F'N love my G1!
