hmm~~the "other phone" must be a nice phone to have that XDDDD
joking, thats really seems a cool idea~~and very useful too~~
I know "another phone" that does this, and it's a natural feature to me...
When you create a shortcut to a URL on the desktop, it would be nice if the icon used the favicon from the site (if there was one). Two reasons I know this shouldn't be too hard to implement: When you create a direct call shortcut, it uses the picture from your contacts for the icon. --And bookmarks in the browser use the favicon as their icons. So we know the OS sees/uses them, and we know the OS uses external images for shortcuts. Just bring the two features together!
--Just a thought.

I think that would be a great feature to add. Although it seems like that's something that a company like Google wouldn't leave out.
Useful is the key. If you want to devote a whole screen to web shortcuts for example, it kinda sucks to have a generic URL icon and have to read the text. What's the point of the ICON if you have to read text? We know it's a URL. That's why we put it there. So make the icon mean something. I'd love to see this feature. Of course, I'd love to see the ability to change icons--PERIOD.

You're right the iphone is hot.
Me and Android are officially connected.
"I'm shocked at the diversity of the people psyched for the G1. All different people united...under Android"
Here's a real idea. How about a G1 that does auto roaming like every other cell phone.
According to T-mobile's G1 support team, If you happen to wander outside of T-mobile coverage area, your phone will not automatically connect to any other carriers network.
Case in point, I live in Houston. On New Year's Eve I traveled to a Casino outside Lake Charles, Louisiana with my wife (Black Berry Pearl) and several friends who have either T-Mobile or AT&T for cell coverage. Everyone else received their phone calls
the entire night. My daughter in Austin , Texas tried numerous times to reach me to no avail. My daughter eventually called my wife to find out why she could not reach me. Keep in mind my wife has a T-Mobile BlackBerry Pearl. My wife asked me if my phone was turned off, I checked it and saw NO SERVICE display on the screen of my G1. I had to manually go into the settings menu and select AT&T as the cell network
to connect to. God knows how many calls I missed during the previous 6 hours at the casino. No this is not a phone problem, according to T-Mobile the phone is designed this way. T-Mobile suggested that I keep a coverage map handy and check my phone regularly to see if it has lost service. OMG!!! How can someone who travels a lot for business constantly monitor their cell phone to see if it has lost service? Every other
cell phone in recent history can auto roam other carriers networks. According to T-Mobile support, this is the way it was designed!!! Let's give a G1 to some Google and T-Mo. execs and see how long they can handle manually selecting an alternate carrier if they happen to wander 10 feet too far from a T-Mobile cell tower!!! This is a joke! How in the world can they call this a cell phone? It apparently does data roaming just fine according to several other posts I have seen. Why in the world would anyone design a phone that loses service and has to be manually told to roam?
I cannot continue to use this as my primary cell phone. My Dash worked better than this! My wife's Pearl always has service even in the middle of Wyoming. I guess I'll have to develop head gear that allows you to constantly view the bars on the signal meter to see if you have lost service. How ridiculous! I have since missed calls while traveling between Houston and Dallas. In Oklahoma City i have to manually choose a different carrier 4 or 5 times a day when I am not within sight of a T-Mobile Tower.
Is this 1989? Primeco or Voicestream? I remember the days of roaming charges, but at least the phone worked in other carriers networks automatically for the most part.
How did a company as large as Google build a phone with so many wonderful features
and left out the ability to save mms pics and how can you build a cell phone that cannot roam automatically? Unbelieveable! Yes I know all you techies are going to say
"use the select automatically feature" in settings. I asked about that, According to T-Mobile the "select automatically" feature only selects the primary carrier automatically when in range. The phone will not try to connect to any other carrier period. It must be done maually. This is not a phone for grown ups. Maybe I'll just switch to AT&T.
