1 Click Root!?!

MOST IMPORTANT UPDATE: The links contained in this post contain no security threats to any computer, they are direct downloads not mirrors so it is entirely safe.
The way this seems to work is it uses a security patch in every firmware so far to instal a recovery image and this allows you to flash any rom you want if you know how.

The below words are old and kept for OPs's sake.
Please feel free to try if you are running stock firmware. I do believe this works.

I personally recommend if you're hard-drive heart can't handle things such as bootloops, failed installation packages, and wipes that you do avoid reading any more from here at all cost.

I hate to break everyones back [Crazythunder, Johnny, Sims, everyone else doing more than their share of work to help others] but it looks like this is a possibility.
I've said it before that it would be nice to see the g1 be able to carry out eerything on its own [apps2sd, compache, etc] and it slowly has become true.

When I first looked into rooting and didn't understand it I was hoping for an app or something that could do it for me, clearly now I am glad I did it on my own and figured it out but this very well might as well be a helpful tool for everyone. Though it probably will lack a tutorial to flashing and such.

Anywho its a rumor, here are two links.
1. is to the mans Twitter account that claims he rooted his phone with one click.
2. is the source I got it from and is pretty useless to click, just says it hopes it works and gives the Twitter account.


The following links are safe to download and contain no viruses or trogans, will not launch a nuclear war, make you throw your phone out the window ETC.
It is very well possible that this security hole will be patched soon so it is clearly important to spread this around.
These links can take you directly to the source of his .apk meaning no virus or malware can be added.

Doesn't sound kosher to me, but maybe. Glad I did it the old fashioned way, you learn alot about your phone.
