Rooted phone, but external SD is not being recognized

Last night I rooted my phone, but noticed that my external SD card is not being recognized by Media Player or Gallery.

I can view the external SD card in the Files app, so that part works.

How do I get Media Player and Gallery to recognize my external SD card again?

I noticed that my phone was making this annoying, loud ringing sound that wouldn't stop until I accidentally dropped the notification tray down to look at notifications.

So, I suspect that the problem was with the SD card issue I was having, since the sounds I use are located on the external SD.

I fixed the problem by connecting the phone to the PC and enabled file transferring.
