    Hi,

I need sime help. I had installed Kies on my computer usung the disk they had in the package. I also had downloaded the update version of Kies.

I had problem connecting my phone in the old and new versions. I used the original cable provided.

I also had configured my usb seting to connect to Kies.

o.k. this may have been alot of peoples problem, just spoke with a friend that confirmed this worked flawlessly, the instructions are toward the bottom. use mass storage mode to transfer your files to your pc. (or back them up however you see fit)

That techno MTP application restarting shown in the linked video on that page is exactly the problem I started having with Kies.

You see, MTP and Kies used to work find on my SGS, but then one day it stopped. Maybe it was after I took some pictures, maybe it was after I installed some ringtones, and maybe that's important later...

Looking at the logcat logs from the phone show MTP scanning all of the media on the internal SD card, with an error for each one, although this doesn't appear to be fatal. The fatal error seems to be that it's expecting another folder that it can't find. The error message said something like "Stack corruption detected" and mentions it was expecting another folder.

Formatting the internal SD card would erase all files from the SD card and hence it won't be getting these errors related to the files on it, so that's why it fixes the issue.

So... the current workaround is to copy all your files off the internal SD card (you can use Mass Storage Mode for that), then unmount the internal SD card, format it, and remount it. Then Kies will connect. After that you can copy all your files back onto it.

That's a really horrible workaround, but at least there is one. My biggest worry was that Kies is required to restore a firmware if it breaks, and to update the firmware if they're not done OTA.

    Hi All,

Answering to extorian question, when i connect my phone to Kies, my phone screen keeping blinking between home screen and intialising screen.

Yeah my concern is that Kies may be required to be used to update new version in future.

What - a bit like this video? http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xe3...-applicat_tech

That's what happens with me too. Tylerdurdin found it in post #3 above.

The only workaround I know of at the moment is to copy all files off your phone using Mass Storage mode, format your internal storage (instructions can by found in the link tylerdurdin posted above), connect to Kies (it'll work now), then copy everything back. You'll have to repeat this every time you connect to Kies.

Well this is the most unbeliveable info on this yet, my friend from at&t spoke to a samsung tech after about two weeks of attempts. The tech said that Kies is not even fully supported for U.S. based phones and that pretty much all releases of kies at this point are more or less alpha. No solidly functioning program has been released due to the phone varations. If your phone did not come with a kies disc the downloadable version for the i9000 will not play nicely with all galaxy phones across the board. At this point they will work on a full support after the realease of Froyo. This is kinda BS but at least I know not to keep screwing with it. And explains why certain pre installed apps have a message that "this feature is not yet available". He did say that certain tweaks will get decent functionality.

Mine didn't come with a disc so I had to download it (normal Samsung Galaxy S here), but Kies worked fine for a few days until I got some files on my internal SD card, then it had the above problems.

Yeah mine too, and from what I gathered after speaking with my friend was that for the most part thats as good as kies is working at this point, my friend is a district manager for AT&T and said that almost every complaint is the same thing you experienced, install, works fine, then dont work no more. He said people are driving him insane with crap about this, even more than GPS issues. One question I had for him was why samsung even has these features out yet if the support is so limited?, he asked a similar question but no answer was even given. The tech even confirmed that some European phones are working with no problems at all ,One thing the tech did say that was interesting was that samsung knew the phone would do well, but the entire bldg he works in is in complete disbelief about the fact that it is doing THIS well. All in all, the tech reassured him that ALL issues are being addressed and that people should be calming by the end of september. I think we both know what that means. PLEEEAAASSSEE let it mean what I think it means.
