Can't download picture or video messages

I've had my Samsung Galaxy S for about a week now, and it's great other than the fact that I can't get the mms messaging to work properly. I can send mms messages fine, but recieving is another story. I've been able to recieve four, maybe five pictures but they took hours to download. I changed the settings so that they didn't automatically download, but now when I click the "download" button it says "Currently unable to download. Try again later." I've checked all the settings. My APN settings are all correct, and I've enabled my data usage (I usually keep it disabled and use wi-fi only) but still nothing.

i had the same problem in my cell phone ....than one of my friend told me to reset the phone....when i reset my phone...than every thing is working fine

There is no need to reset your phone in this case there is an app called 'Save Mms', it basically saves pictures, audio...etc from your text messages to your SD card.
