Droid with software issues for $50

My Friend said his Droid forgets contacts, is loosing texts & was acting up after the 2.2 software update so Verizon replaced it. But only took the battery so he still has it. I could wipe, root, n install CM6 and most likely get it running good right.

Is $50 worth it. Where can I get an originally battery? And will the phone still work if I call and register it on another Verizon account?

I can get a spare battery from Verizon for cheap from a friend. most likely the update to 2.2 and froyo messed it up. Reinstalling the radio n OS would probably fix it. I think ill take it.

I mean for 50 bucks why not, if you fix it instant profit.

True that.. $200 on CL. Or a phone to mess with and try Roms n learn stuff.

Wait wait.. so verizon replaced this phone. But he still has the broken one. Now i have it. I'm new to Verizon so I don't know how they work.

Will they lock the esn number? What causes them to get locked, and how do you unlock them? I'm wondering if this will be locked or not

If they sent him a replacement and he still had the original. He could be charged full price for the replacement phone if he doesn't send the defective phone back to Verizon. Just make sure he keeps a copy of the tracking number when he sends it back.

yea i thought the same thing. He said he's had it for like 3 weeks or something.. He said they didn't want it back. so i got it. lol
