I'd check that the battery is in firmly, beyond that I'm not sure what it could be.
Hi all - I've recently purchased an HTC Desire. Love the phone, but don't like the lack of an Android Desktop Application to handle syncing options. (Have had to consider paying for 3rd party app just to handle this, and even that is extremely confusing!) But I digress.
My main issue with the phone is that within a few days of owning it, it started randomly shutting down, so when I went to use the power button to bring up the screen it would reboot. I haven't found any pattern as to 3rd party app that might be causing it. It does it very randomly - will go for days on end without a problem, then it will recur, sometimes doing the 'reboot when power button depressed' 3 or 4 times in a row before settling back down to nornal use.
Anyone else experiencing this? Is it likely to be a hardware fault requiring a return of the unit? (I am hoping not as it is a parrallel import from an auction based supplier - I'm in NZ)
Appreciate any help that can be offered.
I'd check that the battery is in firmly, beyond that I'm not sure what it could be.
This has been happening to me too (about 6 times in the last 4 weeks or so). To be very honest I had dropeed the phone a couple of times prior to it doing this for the firsst time so I thought it might have something to do with that...
Hi,
I have the exact same thing. My phone shuts off around 5 till 10 times every day! Itīs really annoying. I brought it back to my provider (Vodafone) to get it repaired. They gave it back with a new firmware update (2.2) and reseted everything. The problem is still omnipresent..
I figured it hasnīt to do anything with 3rd party apps or software, because mine was reset to factory settings. Also it couldnīt be the SD card because with out it, the problem stil arises.
this is frustring!![]()
This has happened to me many times. For instance:
-During talking on the phone while charging through USB-cable
-Playing back Youtube videos
-AND EVERY SINGLE TIME I TRY TO USE MY EXPENSIVELY PURCHASED NAVIGON NAVIGATION MOBILE SOFTWARE (phone shuts down after <5 minuttes of driving)
When I have to go somewhere, and need directions, this is very inconvenient as anyone can imagine.
The Desire shuts down and tries to restart, but it will keep shutting down every 8-10 seconds until the back is removed and the battery taken out.
I suspect the problem has to do with overheating of the Desire's high-frequency processor. After shutting down spontaneously, my phone will not start again without being left alone for 5-10 minutes with the back off and the battery taken out.
To me, this issue is very serious, and I am gathering evidence to make HTC take the phone back.
if it happens once every week, its jujst the battery.. if its every day and happens a lot of times, it is very likely that it is the mother board.. a lot of people had this issue over at xda
hope this helps!
I have the same problem. Some days it shuts down more than 20 times, so its really annoying.
Today I put a piece of paper (a contacl card) over the battery to put more pressure so I doesn't move. Since then, it's doing fine, but it's only beeb 1 hour since. I'll keep you posted if this resolves the problem.
The piece of paper over the bat didn't work. I'll have to take it to repair.
Anyone knows if HTC gives international warranty?
Yeah, I also think it would be battery problem, or configuration of OS.
So, a. change another working well battery and check it.
b. try factory reset.
