    Default HTC Desire mp3's problem

Hi just joined this forum reallly to ask a question about a particular problem I seem to be having installing mp3's from my laptop to my desire phone.
The problem involves the fact that after I transfer the files into the sd card they don't seem to show up on the phone even checking in quick office doesn't help as it says that no files can be found.
I know that the mp3 files have definetely been transfered but does anyone know what I could be doing wrong?
I have tried unmounting the sd and then taking it out and putting it back in makes no difference though.

Are you putting them in a folder, Music. I know on the G1 and the Nexus One they are put into a folder and when you open the musiuc app on your phone they show up. Also make sure you unmount your phone, if it's mounted they won't shoiw up.

Hi mate well I have tried putting them in the mp3 folder which is situated on the sd card, but they don't show up!
I would have thought that they would automatically be sent there, why did you say that the phone had to be unmounted I thought that you only had to unmount the card to remove it from the phone?
By the way I don't think there is a music folder on the drive just a mp3 folder all my mp3's are in a separate folder within the sd cards mp3 folder not sure if this will make a difference if I take them out and put them in indivually.

When you connect yopur phone to the computer you mount your sd card, when you are finished putting the mp3's into the folder you need to unmount your phone or the phone can't see the sd card. It's actually called turn off usb storage. You tap that and get a message turn off or cancel. Turning off usb storage is unmounting your phone.

Thanks man! I got them on a, little odd though I have to unmount, theres a feature in the settings that lets me do this then I have to remove the sd card and then reinsert it before the tracks come up!
Seems to be the same procedure if you want to delete one of the tracks too....wonder if anyone else has found the desire phone to be like this?

    Hi

I have the same problem for days, and I finally found the cause. It was... my fault!
Double check that you don't have any file named ".nomedia" in your music folder or subfolders!
Indeed, I put that file for the Gallery application : it was made for preventing Gallery from showing music jpg files (mainly covers), because my "real" photos were lost among all the music jpg cover files when I opened the Gallery. The .nomedia prevents the Gallery from parsing the folder, but apparently, it also prevents the music players from parsing music also !

I'm having the same problem and I think I know the cause for it but not how to solve it. The reason I don't see my mp3 files is that the music app sort files due to ID3v2 tags. Many of my files doesn't have ID3v2 tags since they are my own studio recording. And not all files are encoded with ID3v2 tag information.

Does any one know how to search the folder on the Androids folders. I recall that I found an app for folders and the music folder was /mnt/...[some ting].../music/myfolder.

Is there any special music app that I can download to my HTC Decire.

Here you have a link that show why there is a problem with adding mp3 files.

    http://member.america.htc.com/downlo...HTC_UM_WWE.pdf

    QUOTE
*) In the Library, tap or slide your finger on the bottom row to go to the Playlists category.
Tap a playlist to open it.

*) Tap the first song or any song in the playlist.

*) When you tap a song in the list to play it, the Now playing list is updated with the song list
    from your playlist.
    End QUOTE

As I said above. The music files are order due to the ID3v2 tags included in the file. FLAC files seam to be ignores.

THERE HAS TO BE A BETTER MUSIC APP TO DOWNLOAD. If not this is some thing I might look into. After all I'm a programmer.
