Whats the correct way to input phone numbers in Contacts? (+1 or Area Code first etc)

Sometimes people without the "+1" show up as the wrong contact name when addressing a text message.. additionally.. some of the numbers lacking the area code got the contact name wrong when importing from Google Contacts to my phone.. for example my number listing for "CDTA" (a local business) got switched for the "CDPC" phone number (another local business)... Both of which I had saved in my contacts.

Also when one of my friends calls me.. (His name is Pat) It shows up as "Goog-411" even though he is saved in my phone as Pat.

i always entermine area code and number with no +1 and i have never had a problem

I enter all of mine in international format (with the +1 or whatever the country code may be). Never had a problem.

either way, and if the number is in your area code you dont even need to put the area code in there.

I hate that if you don't enter the 1, it doesn't equate the number with the contact, this should be fixed!

Contact syncing is FAR from perfect...

I guy called Da'meen calls me and it shows his name as Dane, another friend of mine. So I change the "Dane" entry t Da'meens name... then go to the Da'meen entry and see that it's Da'meens number.. so wtf happened to Dane's number?

I always use 1+area+number. It is more correct and will match better.

I know that now, but that would force me to go back and edit all of my contacts!

Or you can try Contacts Clean-up,

* Format phone numbers
* Add missing country codes
* Add missing area codes
