Default Re: Is it possible to have working MMS over WiFi?

It depends on your provider.

There are two ways to receive an MMS message:

1) Downloaded using GPRS or 3G over the phone network.

2) By clicking the link you received to download it on any browser, including the phone's, over any network (phone, WiFi, etc).

Number 1 is the default. I've never heard of a phone provider that requires a data plan to receive MMS messages. In every case I've seen they have a different APN for MMS messages and Data. The MMS APN can only be used for downloading MMS messages. Before the days of web browsing on mobile phones this was exactly how you got MMS messages - you certainly didn't need a data plan as no such thing existed.

Number 2 occurs when you don't have MMS messaging turned on on your account. Instead of receiving an MMS message, you receive an SMS message saying you've been sent an MMS message and to visit a link to view it. You would have to call your provider to see if you can still set that up - this is the only way to receive MMS messages over WiFi.
