Default How Do I Make Playlists?

How do I make playlists on the computer? I tried making folders on the SD card within the "music" folder but it doesn't do it on the G1.

.

Load your own playlists from PC

You can create your own playlists on PC & then load them on your SD card for access through the Music Player. The playlist formats supported are M3U, WPL, and PLS.

Create your playlists using MediaMonkey or any other music player.... Save the playlist as a .m3u file on your desktop... then copy the .m3u file into your "playlists" folder inside your “Music” folder... (You don’t have to, but it’s advisable to have a “Playlist” folder in your “Music” folder).

To Create a playlist on your phone

1 From the Library, select a category.
2 From the list that appears, navigate to the artist, album, or song that you want on a playlist.
3 Touch & hold the artist, album, or song to open the context menu.
4 Select Add to playlist.
5 In the Add to playlist menu that opens, select New to create a new playlist, or one of the existing playlists.
6 The song(s) are added

Ok, that sort of helps. But how do I transfer a playlist from iTunes to the phone(sd card)? Normally I would just select all of the songs and drag and drop into the "music" folder on the sd card. The songs load fine and they play, but the playlists aren't there.

In the music folder, I also created a folder that says "Playlist1" and "playlist2" for my two playlists in iTunes, but that's not being recognized on the phone.

Any help on that one? Thanks

To have those songs on a separate playlist of their own on your G1.... you have to create a playlist file of those songs (.m3u file)... to do this you can load those songs on MediaMonkey or any music player (don't know about iTunes... never used it) and create the .m3u file & save it. Copy that .m3u file to your "playlists" folder inside your “Music” folder (no need to have "Playlist1" and "playlist2" folders).... I hope that helps... let us know if it doesn't...

Does anybody know if iTunes help in saving playlists as a .m3u file?

and remember just having the .m3u file inside "playlist" folder doesn't help if those songs are not present in "music" folder....

So in a nutshell.... copy the songs to "music" folder & the .m3u file to the "playlist" folder inside the "music" folder

So what if you make changes in iTunes to the playlist and add/delete songs. Do you have to re-copy AND edit the .m3u file? Sounds like a pain if that is true...
