    Default New Android tablet forums!

    Hi everyone, I saw a BIG number of Android-powered tablets at CES this past week and anticipate an even larger number at Mobile World Congress - so with that, we're creating a specific section just for Android-powered tablet discussions.

    Mods - please keep an eye out for stray threads that get lost in other forums and move them here. Thanks! V

    My top choice for Android-powered tablet of 2010 is the Notion Ink Adam. The Notion Ink Adam will revolutionize the way we consume media content...check out my hands-on at CES - I promise you'll be impress. There's also a very long video demo for your viewing pleasure.

    Nice tablet. Also want to be sure the tablet isnt running the VIA/WM CPUs, they are too slow. I got my Rockchip tablet at dreemusa. I've been really happy with it - has the most features Ive seen for an irobot/apad style tablet. Just be careful what you buy!

    I recently bought an iRobot Apad. Here is a quick review:

    Pros:
    * Lightweight
    * Easy set up
    * Easy and quick wifi set up and use
    * Good for browsing the web
    * Cheap: About $200 with shipping and 16GB storage
    * No Apple lockin - connect and download your own apps, etc.
    * decent performance such as moving between applications
    * Good browser experience

    Cons:
    * Mixes English and Chinese through the system including the keyboard and menus. You can figure it out but there is no default language setting
    * touch screen is not very responsive or well calibrated. Calibrating it does not fix this. At 1/3 of the price of an iPad you get what you pay for :-)
    * battery life is poor. I had the unit on but in standby and after only 1 hour, it used up 20% of the power. iPad supposedly has an 8 hour battery. I think the apad would be exhausted after just 2-3, far worse than my Lenovo Laptop which gets 8 hours on Windows 7.

    This is a good device if you want simple browsing of the web at a cheap price. I will continue to use it over the next week and post a more indepth review. For now, I would say WAIT until they have a newer version.

    Hi Daviddel,.
    Thanks for the review. But from what I read buying from China, lot depends on the seller. So can you please expand on who the seller was, what model and how the whole process has been. I hope this is not asking too much of you, because I have had 2 bad pur. which I had to return. Thanks in anticipation.

    This thread was very informative and another big reason to be careful.

    I bought:

    aliexpress.com
    G01 10.2'' 10'' Inch Notebook Tablet PC,Tablet laptop,Mini PC,Touch screen, MID, UMPC, with ZT-180 1GHz CPU, 256MB Memory,Wifi from Sinoband Co. Ltd.'s store.

    I'm out $38 on a return from the United States after buying a 10" android touchscreen from SINOBAND CO. LTD. I received the product with a non functional touchscreen. I hooked up a mouse and downloaded a android benchmark program. The processor reported 300mhz, had android 1.5, and the sold product stated it had 1 Ghz. I was the victim of a bait and switch on top of a non functional screen, so I had to send it back. Why should I pay return shipping? Additionally on the return they are refusing to receive it?

    I just bought and recieved the 10.2" ePad with Adroid 2.1 OS from the following link. It was as they described it on the web-site and came from China in 4 days. I was pretty impressed. It is also larger and a bit heavier than the iPad which is closer to 9.7".

    The screen is not as responsive as an iPad but for $179 plus shipping it is a great deal. I would like to be able to root this product to upgrade to 2.2 and hope I can find someone to help me do that.
