Man if I had a nickel for every time I had package delayed because of the dragon boat festival. Well I'd have 0 nickels.
Sounds like they are just an importer not so much a seller... or some other odd distinction as such.
Maybe everyone else knows this shipping issue but it came as a disappointing surprise to me.
I live in Canada. I saw the prices for a Moonse from a variety of vendors including Merimobiles. I saw that Merimobiles is located in Montreal so I decided to order from them. I thought it would save me any customs/duty fees etc. when I purchased and it would make it easier if I had to return the Moonse for any servicing issues. Then when they returned it I wouldn't be faced with more customs/duty charges.
I just learned that while Merimobiles' office location is in Montreal, they actually ship from Shenzhen, so I will likely have customs/duty issues.
They did say that if I have warranty or servicing issues I will be able to return the Moonse to their Montreal office.
BTW, they also said that shipping is delayed this week until Thursday as the shipping companies don't work during the Dragon Boat Festival that is on this week.

I canceled my order too. Very frustrating as I too thought they were in Canada and I'd get it in the US in a matter of a few days. In the end I think I'll wait for the Pandigital Novel to be re-released. At least if it goes down, I can walk back into Kohls and deal with them
I have a Novel and a v.1 apad, with current firmware the novel is really slow and frustrating to use. Hardware is pretty good though so hopefully software catches up...apad works well but quality control issues. Being able to return to canada for warrany is good. Shipping from china faster then you'd thiink.

I ordered from Merimobiles also. I'm very confused about the shipping though. I ordered it on the 6/8. I was told they were being delayed because the factory was putting the latest update on them. I was told that they would be giving me a 2GB micro sd card and a usb mouse free for the delay. They asked me a couple of times if I wanted them to proceed with the order or refund me my money. I decided to patiently wait. I wanted to make sure I got an official Moonse E7001, and not a copycat. They then told me it would be shipped on 6/15. After sending another email to their support, I finally got confirmation that it was shipped via UPS on 6/18. This upset me cause I paid extra to have it shipped via DHL 2-5 day shipping. I emailed them for a refund of the difference and they responded by saying that it actually costs them more to ship via UPS and that it will arrive faster than DHL would have. So I didn't pursue the refund any further. The tracking # they gave me was in a different format than UPS would have been. It started with an H followed by 10 digits. I could not get any tracking information using what was given to me. Finally I wrote them back again, and now they gave me a UPS tracking number, but when I check it, it shows that they barely got the billing information today, which leads me to believe that it is actually being shipped out today and was never shipped on the 18th as previously indicated.
Has anyone else ordered from Merimobiles, and how was your experience with them?
I give them one thing, there support responds pretty quickly, but in the end, it sounds like a bunch of BS to me. Should I be worried?
I paid via paypal, so I could open a dispute. What do you think?
So far my experience is similar to nattygirl6's. I ordered. Several days later they said they had a delay due to updating the firmware. They were sending me a 2 GB card and USB mouse.
Then there was a shipping delay due to the Dragon Boat Festival. (I read about it on the web. It does sound like a big deal in parts of China with a lot of business shutting down.)
Then I got the "H" tracking number. It didn't work.
The top of the website said it was shipped via UPS. The bottom said EMS. The tracking number didn't work on either tracking.
Then they said they that because of the delay they had shipped it via UPS because that would be faster.
Then they said that the had planned to ship using UPS but UPS wanted an additional $30.00 as we live in a remote area, so they ended up using EMS. They said they sent me an 8 GB SD card because of the mixup.
The EMS tracking shows that it actually shipped yesterday.
There is something fishy about these guys. They told me that I needed to send in a bunch of photocopies of personal ID to process my payment but the payment had already gone through in my statements. They then said they would progress the order. After 10 days they hadn't done anything so I emailed them and they gave me the same line about sending ID? Day 11 and I am still waiting for them to explain why they need ID if the payment has already cleared? DO NOT send them ID. In fact my advice is find somewhere else to get your gear.

The sad thing when i hear something like this is this, unfortunately we live in a world where on the internet there is alot of credit card fraud going on. When there is a discrepancy in the AVS( address information) the payment gets red flagged by the credit card processor. And therefore we have to ask proof of id and address. By doing so we caught many fraudulent payments and protected more customers than doing any harm. This is the goal of doing so and this is why credit card processors push a seller to ask for extra proof when there is any discrepancy in a payment from a credit card, either it be a non matching address information or CCV2 information. I can bet you if we stopped someone from using your credit card fraudulently you would not be complaining. On top we also accept paypal which you are free to use and does not require any checks, as the check are done by paypal.
2. When the payment is first process we do not charge your credit card. Its called and "AUTHORIZATION:" place automatically by visa/mastercard to verify that the funds for the transaction that you are trying to process is available. This Authorization will be placed on your card for 5 days and will be reversed if we do not complete the transaction after the checks. So its not because you showed us your bank statement that you did not hear from us again.
The procedure is the same for every payment and we will keep doing checks when necessary to protect our customers from fraudulent activity and to protect ourselves.
thank you
Philip
