Yup, thats a lame ass reply from Google, and very irritating. we jumped on there FIRST, and only phone as of now. and supported them right away. and something that almost EVERY other android phone has, this is lacking. and we ask about it and get a simple, and quick Decline. and thats all.

Pretty lame, looks like I'll be rooting as I don't wanna wait.

Google's response is:

The Nexus One is equipped with a tri-color trackball, but there is currently no way to customize colors for notifications. As it is now, the trackball will flash blue during an incoming call when connected to Bluetooth and white for a regular call (with a white pulse indicating a notification). I can't make guarantees concerning future functionality but I think it is very likely that there will be more color options in an upcoming release.

Again, it's incorrect where he says "there is currently no way to customize colors". I've seen it with my own eyes! But, at least they say here that it is "very likely" it will be fixed in a later release.

The question is, will the Nexus One still be the Android phone of choice by the time a "later release" comes out. It already is on an almost level playing field with the HTC Passion.
