Wheres all the tech lingo? :'(
My good friend Paul over at MoDaCo already rooted the Nexus One and the instructions look straightforward!
Superboot is a boot.img that when flashed, will root your device the first time you boot (installing su and the superuser APK). No need to flash the system partition, no need to use ADB, no messing with the contents of your data partition, no overwriting the shipped ROM on your device, just flash the boot image using the instructions below and you're done!
APPLY THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Superboot - download
Insecure boot (this allows you to manually deploy su and superuser.apk, it makes no changes to your system): download
How to use Superboot - Windows, Linux and OSX
- Download the Superboot zip file above and extract to a directory
- Put your device in bootloader mode - turn if off, remove battery, plug in USB cable, when battery icon appears onscreen, replace battery then tap the powerbutton while holding the Camera key
- WINDOWS - double click 'install-superboot-windows.bat'
- MAC - Open a terminal window to the directory containing the files, and type 'chmod +x install-superboot-mac.sh' followed by './install-superboot-mac.sh'
- LINUX - Open a terminal window to the directory containing the files, and type 'chmod +x install-superboot-linux.sh' followed by './install-superboot-linux.sh'

No tech lingo, it looks like the one that was rooted had an engineering spl which made it easier, no adb or anything. Just hope they are all shipped with it.
They want us to root! Google probably takes a look at the big android communitys (AC/XDA) and sees that we hype the device more then the danm media, getting our colse ones to convert and join the android colt, when they make it this easy. Theyr just teasing us!!! Aghh I want 1 haha
It may be easy but I'm very sure someone will still brick their phone when they try to root lol
Actually I wish this hadn't been leaked until after the phone was released.
Now Google or the carriers will have the opportunity to block this method and another way will have to be found to root.
I'm not surprised, it is an unlocked phone running an Open Source OS. That's how it should be. As for "leaking" the info, yawn, the providers don't care, they will lock the phone down as they always do. It has to be easy for them too so they can then lock it down. nope, no irony there....
