No 3G or Fluctuating between 3G & Edge

Anyone else having this problem? Yes-yes-yes? YOU'RE not alone! According to T-Mo's forums:

• BE SURE TO INCLUDE THE CITY, STATE, & ZIP of the location where you've experienced the problem.
• Indicate if you have no 3G at all or if your signal indicator fluctuates between 3G & E.
• Do you have another T-Mobile 3G phone that does get or does not get reliable 3G at the same location?
• Is there anything specific that you have done that helps the problem or that makes the problem occur.
• Any other relevant information you can provide.

Do you have another T-Mobile 3G phone that does get or does not get reliable 3G at the same location? yes, in areas my G1 always got 3G, Nexusone is having fluctuations

Is there anything specific that you have done that helps the problem or that makes the problem occur. nope

• Lyndhurst, NJ 07071
• Fluctuates between EDGE and 3G
• My G1 in the same house gets 3 bars of 3G where the Nexus One gets 1 bar of 3G and drops to EDGE consistently.
• Going into Phone Info through AnyCut and changing from WCDMA Preffered to WCDMA Only, and then back, keeps the phone in 3G pretty consistently. But this solution isn't ideal.
• At work I seem to not have an issue, although I have a much stronger 3G signal at work.

Fluctuates between 3G and Edge (1 Bar 3G, Fluxes to 4 Bars Edge)
G1 maintains 3-4 bars 3G
Seems to 'wake' in Edge and eventually switches to 3G. Once in 3G, seems to flux.
Does not fluctuate in areas with considerably better 3G signal (example: at work)

I live in an area (Ankeny, IA) that only recently was upgraded from G directly to 3G service. I have had no problems with 3G since with either my G1 or my Nexus One.

I'm thinking one of the biggest hurdles to fixing this is how do you do an ota to an unlocked phone?
Sure the majority are on T-Mobile but not everyone and I know no one on att isn't experiencing the problem because they have no 3g. But that doesn't mean they shouldn't fix it.

And if htc hosts the corrected update how many people would miss it...

And they just can't email everyone who bought it because the buyer doesn't guarantee the owner.

Personally I wouldn't mind it going up on HTC because us here would find out about it quickly and have the know how to flash the update. But that leaves the average user in the dark.


Of course that's assuming its a software problem. If it's network T-Mobile just needs to fix there problem.

I think I read some info where someone posted that htc and google didn't send a guy to tweak the phone and signal bands to be optimized on t mobiles network and that many new phones get this procedure. I heard a simple OTA will fix this

On the other hand. I have been on my N1 for the last 7 hours straight tonight. Messing around. Front of my yard. In my house in all main rooms and kitchen, bathroom, backyard on the patio. I have not seen the E for Edge ONCE. not a single time did my Nexus One switch to edge. My battery finally just died after almost 7 hours NON stop. Very impressive. Lol

I have zero problems with switching this first day. Well see tomorrow but Vegas and t mobile have a good signal in this city

no problems in the UK, on t-moby, though we don't drop back to edge we drop back to GPRS!! Only o2 has edge. But mines been kicking it on 3G no problem.
