Getting Double Text Notification's

I downloaded handcent sms for my N1 and set it as my default. However when I receive a text it displays the handcent sms pop up but also still displays the default messaging app notification. Its really annoying I never had this problem on my G1. Help?

You have to go into your normal messenger app and turn of notifications and they will stop.

I am also having this issue. I did turn off notifications, but one thing I noticed is that with 2 mms programms running, my battery life is nearly cut in half from what it was before I installed the new app. How can I turn off the default mms app, or make it so it doesnt activate during startup and only the newly installed mms app does?? Thanks
