Default Seen them before, but a little different than normal. Cliq vs G1

OK. Been a sidekick user since sidekick 1, although im dreading losing direct server connection for AIM when leaving the danger network, after octs data loss problem and ready for a change....im ready to go android.

I am looking to stay on t-mobile ( from what i can see best provider for price, phone, coverage, etc)

Anyways, ive seemed narrowed it down to the Mytouch 3g, G1, and Cliq.

The Mytouch seems cool, but i am used to a keyboard and massive amounts of texting, so kind of ruled that one out.

I know everyone is hating on the cliq, but WHY is it worse than the G1? Just because its new and hasn't been developed in the mod community? I did notice the slight delay when opening and closing the phone, which being used to the sidekick was a turn off, but the G1 also seemed to have the same issue.

As far as 3d rendering problem goes... my understanding of 3d rendering (which is limited) has to do with Open GL and woul mainly be a issue in games and animated videos? or is there more to it than that?

The g1 looks cool and i like that it is lighter than the cliq, but i feel strange buying older technology. This will be as stated my first android phone but i would one day like to get into i guess tinkering around with it (ROMS, rooting, etc...whatever all that stuff is)

the main things i currently use my phone for are: e-mail (just gmail POP no corp email) AIM, text, would like to be able to view spreadsheets and use it to listen to music (and maybe watch youtube videos :X)...from what ive read the g1 and cliq can do both.

battery life is also a huge concern for me. Im on the go and unable to charge most of the day, i heard with the g1 you can get the 200mHA battery or w.e and it makes it much better, especially with the new g1 update is this true?

For the cliq battery ive heard different things, the only happening i plan to use is facebook (not into twitter etc) and have already read some tips on battery life.

So what do you guys think, g1 because things get better with age...or Cliq for the same reason?

Sorry if this post seems semi incoherant, just wanted to make this post tonight, can't deal with the constant sidekick problems im being plauged with ATM

I'd hit up the G1. You can pick one up off of craigs list for anywhere between $100-200 for ones in good condition.

Root it run Cyanogen. Love you phone like you never knew you could. Then when the next great phone comes out in 3-4months let Tmobile help you pay for that one. (or maybe buy it directly from Google if the reports are right )

You can't go wrong with the G1. Been loving it for a year now! Plus I've tried out MOTOBlur and HTC's Rosie, and stock android is my fave.

I say the Cliq, I hated the G1's hardware, but that's my opinion.
