root cliq recommended?

Sadly my G1 had a problem and t-mobile is currently out of G1s so they gave me a Cliq.. i was wondering if the cliq benefits from root is as good as the g1? Also is there a big community for this phone like the g1/xda?

nah, the g1 is a much friendlier dev phone than the cliq. but go ahead and root it. you can still overclock and theme and stuff. look around for roms; can't think of any off the top of my head, but there's gotta be some. and the cliq should feel faster with that extra ram that the g1 is lacking.
